Born on the Streets of England
In England, the humble baked potato goes by another name: the jacket potato — named for the gorgeous, crackling skin that forms a crispy jacket around the fluffy interior.
For over two centuries, street vendors have been slinging these beauties across Britain. From Victorian market stalls to modern-day lunch counters, the jacket potato is a beloved comfort food staple — split open, loaded with butter, and piled high with everything from baked beans and cheese to tuna and coleslaw.
Simple. Satisfying. Endlessly customizable. We loved the name so much, we built an entire restaurant around it — right here in Amarillo.
